The SUB 8.17 EDGE features a custom-engineered 8" long-stroke driver built on the same design principles as XTZ’s Cinema Series. A lightweight yet rigid cone, optimized suspension, and sealed motor structure deliver fast, controlled bass from a small enclosure—ideal for compact systems or secondary zones.

The SUB 8.17 is powered by a 200W Class-D amplifier with 350W peak output. Its advanced DSP includes three EQ presets, precise signal routing, and high SNR for clean playback at all listening levels. Unlike many Class-D designs, the amplifier features near-ideal clipping behavior, minimizing distortion even at extreme output levels.

Port Tuning - High frequency
With no plugs in the ports the subwoofer will provide a “quick” and “punchy” bass character. It will produce increased output higher up in the frequency range.
Port Tuning - Mid. frequency
If the left port is blocked and the right port is open, this will provide a bass with an increased output in the mid-region.
Port Tuning - Low. frequency
If the right port is blocked and the left port is open, this will provide a deep bass with an increased output in the lower frequencies.
Both ports closed
With both ports blocked the sealed box will provide a dry and controlled bass character.

Whoever buys Subwoofer from XTZ will probably never be disappointed. Visually appealing and very well constructed! The finish is really high quality compared to other subs in that price range. The bass from the 8.17 is superior and non-intrusive. It is a great addition to my high-end compact speakers which do not play down to 30 Hz. The active power amplifier has enough headroom so one can really feel the bass and not only listen to it. The neighbors will hopefully forgive -).
After a long search finally found a subwoofer that is small enough to fit below my desk but still powerfull and precise! I can recommend this subwoofer to anyone seeking a powerful good sounding bass. I would buy it again-)
I run the sub with the 95.22 as a 5.1 system with a Denon AVR 1912. At first I was concerned that the 8.17 is too small and can never produce a decent bass. After installing I was really astonished. Not only audible but also palpable bass is generated in my 18sqm living room (with laminate floor). When fully turning up the volume the 8.17 reaches its limits and begins to roar so those who want a brutal and extremely loud subwoofer and do not live in a rented apartment should look for larger subwoofer. Conclusion: For me the Sub 8.17 was the perfect choice. With music and movies a precise and tactile bass is produced and the price is just great!

The 8.17 is a really great subwoofer for the price and size. I use it for my 16sqm living room and it creates exactly the bass that I want powerfull but still controlled. It fits perfectly to my bookshelf speakers! The only small thing I do not like is the white cover which makes the drivers shine through.

After reading the review on Areadvd I gave that combination of 8.17 and 99.25 a try since I was looking for a new compact stereo system for my living room since around half a year. The speakers were sent out really fast and were well packed. I especially liked the cloth bags which are additionally protecting the speakers. Concerning the sound I have to say that I am really astonished. Even without the 8.17 the 99.25 do a really great job and play with many details and even deeper than I thought. At moment I am really descovering many of my CDs one more time. The 8.17 plays with the same precision but deeper which is really nice for watching movies. I also use it for music in between since it is providing a nice bass-foundation in the background.
Köpte en SUB 8 tillsammans med ett par Tune 4 högtalare och installerade i mitt kök där vi brukar lyssna på musik när vi lagar mat och umgås blev ett rejält lyft mot tidigare ljudanläggning! Hör nya instrument i låtarna som inte framgick tidigare och bra tryck med rent ljud. Är helnöjd!
XTZ 8.17 sub den första sub jag ägt som lyckas spela techno/DnB och annan snabb elektronisk musik på ett bra sätt har tidigare erfarenhet av att subbarna donar iväg / grötar ihop när det blir för snabb bas det låter helt enkelt inte bra och har då ägt mycket dyrare modeller än XTZ 8.17 Med pluggarna i och eq2 läget blir basen helt perfekt för mitt vardagsrum rapp och fin punch precis som jag vill ha det till musik tar du ut vänster plugg och ändrar till ref mod så får du även den tunga djupbasen gärna har till film Fantastisk sub som man kan anpassa helt efter sin smak på ljud Säger precis som jag gjort tidigare stor eloge till dom på XTZ som lyckats göra så fina och bra produkter till ett rimligt pris .
Är riktigt nöjd med min sub 8.17! Efter att ha lämnat tillbaka en sub av ett annat märke som inte riktigt höll måttet så blev jag glatt överraskad av möjligheten att ställa in basen precis som jag vill ha den. Lagom stor låda som kan smälta in i rummet för den som inte vill skylta med en sub men helt klart med tillräckligt kraft för att få en djup kontrollerad bas. Den samspelar jättebra med ett par Dali Zensor 3. Välbyggd låda som ger en känsla av kvalité.
