The Supra Y-Link is not just an ordinary split cable; it is engineered with Supra's proven technology for immunity to interference. The cable features a semi-balanced design, meaning the shield is only connected at the source end (receiver). This allows any interference to be drained away before it reaches the subwoofer, resulting in a quieter background and cleaner bass.
Many modern subwoofers feature a stereo input (left/right RCA). Even though the LFE signal from your home cinema receiver is mono, you can gain a lot by using the Y-Link to feed both inputs. This often provides a signal increase of +3dB, giving the subwoofer better operating conditions and ensuring that the auto-on function reacts faster and more reliably at low volumes.
