The XTZ Cinema SUB 2X12 Edge is at the cheaper end of the class but delivers a surprisingly high level of technology and pressure for the money. According to Ljud & Bild this is a subwoofer with very powerful bass for movies where flexible EQ and port adjustment make it easier to adapt it to the room.

XTZ Spirit 4 Impressive sound in a compact format

Design & build quality:
I have a pair of XTZ Spirit 4 bookshelf speakers that are stylish have a matte and stylish finish and solid build quality that feels both solid and timeless in the living room. The cabinet is well-damped to minimize unwanted resonances which gives a more clean and open sound.

Sound experience:
When you connect the Spirit 4 to a good amplifier (I use XTZs own Edge A2-300 which is also stylish and works perfectly with the Spirit 4) you get a sound image that surprises in its price range.

- The bass is unusually full and controlled for the size and price which gives the music body and dynamics even in the low tones perfect for a rock lover like me.

- The midrange reproduces vocals and instruments with clarity and balance which makes voices and acoustic instruments particularly pleasant to listen to.

- The treble is clean and detailed with a silk dome tweeter that spreads the sound evenly in the room and creates a wide and engaging soundstage.

- These speakers are surprisingly dynamic for their price range and build a soundstage that feels larger than they physically are.

Use & customization:
The Spirit 4 are passive speakers which means they need a separate amplifier and they reward you with significantly better sound when they get a good match on the amplifier side. I use XTZs Edge A2-300 together with mine and they get the best out of the speakers with a clean nice and undisturbed sound that gives the speakers the best conditions to perform as well as they do. The Spirit 4 also has adjustable treble level and the ability to turn off the bass reflex port if you place them close to a wall. A smart feature that makes it easier to customize the sound in your room.

Conclusion:
The XTZ Spirit 4 is an excellent choice for those who want high sound quality in a compact and elegant format. They play well above their price range and function as both front and stereo speakers. Together with a good amplifier you get a musically detailed and engaging sound experience that makes listening a pure joy.
